Volunteers Needed!

January 12, 2010

If you’re reading this, you probably know that my book just came out and is starting to sell at bookstores, both online and off. The initial reviews have been better than I had hoped. This web site is growing from a few pages to something much bigger, and we need help to build an online resource that can really serve the business community learning about and implementing the semantic web. At the moment, we have 3 volunteers. We need about 10 more! Here are the positions we seek volunteers for:

News desk - we need a few people who will help us find news stories. Ideally they would also write them and submit them for publishing. We hope to have at least 3 stories to publish every day at pullnews.com. But if you can help just by looking for news items, that would be great.

Company and Consultant Database ninja – we are looking for someone to help us build a comprehensive list of companies and consultants in the semantic web. We need it to integrate into our wordpress platform. We have some ideas how to do it but need someone with time and energy to help build it out.

Interviews – someone who writes well to call or write to interesting people and post good interviews.

Case Studies - someone who can follow up on some of the news items and write a case study about a company, project, or product.

Shipper Project – in chapter 3 of my book, I talk about a potential project that could change the world of shipping. I have also discussed it on the shipper page here. But it can’t happen without help. We need a core group of forward-looking people who work at companies that ship a lot of parcels. I’m looking for volunteers to help me assemble and moderate that group. If you can help, together we can change this industry.

Evangelist – we need people to go to other web sites and tell them about the book, the site, the blog, and get people to link back to us.

Forums – our forums haven’t started. We need people to start topics and get talking. Can you help?

Twitter – we need a twitter expert who can help make @pullnews into a popular source of news about the semantic web and pull

Image wrangler - we need a designer or photo enthusiast to help us find royalty-free images to make the site look better.

If you can help with any of these things, or something else useful, please contact us!
